About Chris Young
About the editor JAY A. YOUNG is a leading chemical consultant specializing in the safe manufacture, use, precautionary labeling, proper handling, and appropriate disposal of chemicals used in industry,the household, and the laboratory. Dr. Young was also the Manager of Technical Publications for the Chemical Manufacturers Association. A distinguished member of the academic community, the author has taught chemistry at Florida State University, Auburn University, Carleton University, in Ottawa, and King's College, in Pennsylvania. He has also been the recipient of the Notre Dame Centennial of Science Award for Significant Contributions to the Improvement of the Teaching of Chemistry, and the Chemical Manufacturers Association National Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Chemistry. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a founding member of the American Conference on Chemical Labeling, and a member of the American Chemical Society. Dr. Young is the author of numerous books, including Keys to Chemistry, Chemistry Pre-lab, and Practice in Thinking. Dr. Young received his PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Notre Dame.
