About Simone de Beauvoir
Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) was a writer and philosopher born in Paris, France. Her written work explored existentialism, feminism, sexuality and love. She is most famous for her landmark feminist text, The Second Sex, while her novel, The Mandarins won the Austrian State Prize for European Literature and France's highest literary honour, The Prix Goncourt.
