Jean, illustrator for the Miss Peregrine's graphic novel series, proves herself one of the first American cartoonists to truly capture the feel of Japanese manga; the book is barely distinguishable from its Japan-made counterparts. The pacing and length are spot-on for the story's scope, and the artwork features attractive character designs, most notably for people of color (including Quincy, who's African-American). This fluffy, sweet one-shot is well worth picking up for anyone interested in manga romance or an African-American lead.
