Reviews for Helping Teens Work Through Grief
"This is a wonderful resource
a must-have book for facilitators of teen groups. It is not simply a book of "touch-feely" excercises but a theoretically grounded and sound guide to the complex process of grief. These activities will assist adolescents in understand their range of reactions and experiences in grief. ."
Kenneth J. Doka, Ph.D., Professor, The College of New Rochelle, Senior Consultant, The Hospice Foundation of America "Teenagers are exquisitely sensitive about being different from their peers. In the Harvard Child Bereavement Study we found that some teens experiencing the death of a loved one often feel so different that they do not want others to know about the loss. Support groups for bereaved teens are an excellent way to help such children feel included. This book not only provides step by step instructions for setting up teen bereavement groups but also provides numerous activities geared to helping teenagers navigate the mourning process. It is an excellent resource. ."
J. William Worden, Ph.D., author of Children & grief: When a Parent Dies 'This book provides a sensitive, expanded framework for helping teens work through their grief... It is thoroughly written, orderly, and detailed in presentation and includes an exhaustive resource section which will be welcomed by the worker wishing to enhance their understanding of the grief process.' - Alison Hahn Johnson, Social Work with Groups
