Yoji Akashi is Professor Emeritus at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan. He has published widely in Japanese and in English on the occupation in Malaya and Singapore. Mako Yoshimura is Professor at Hosei University, and a specialist on the social and economic history of Malaysia.
