[Petition; also, Minutes of Proceedings and Evidence taken before the Select Committee on the Cork County Election; together with the Poll Books produced before the Committee] The Petition presented to the Committee was that of Nicholas Philpot, Leader of Dromagh, in the County of Cork, Esq., Robert Longfield, of the City of Dublin, Esq., Barrister at Law, John Newman, of Ashgrove, County cork, Esq., and John Caulfield Irvine, of Grove Hill, County Cork, Esq.. They allege that the Return of Daniel O’Connell and Edmund Burke Roche was obtained by violent, illegal, fraudulent and outrageous means and devises and that the Election of the two gentlemen was illegal and void and that Nicholas Philpot and Robert Longfield ought to be Substituted in the Return for the said county.
