Michael H. Hunt is the Everett H. Emerson Professor of History Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is an exceptionally good documentary reader. What makes it so useful is that it is drawn from an inspired mix of primary sources, including government documents, oral history transcripts, letters, and even the texts of handbills and posters from the world over.
