The five-year period following the proclamation of the Republic in April 1931 was marked by physical assaults upon the property and public ritual of the Spanish Catholic Church. About Maria Thomas
Maria Thomas completed her Ph.D. at Royal Holloway University of London. She has also studied at the London School of Economics and at Cardiff University. Her research interests include anti-clericalism, religion, secularisation and political violence in 1930s Spain. She is the author of various journal articles on these topics.
