Paperback. Set against the backdrop of the devastating global recession, and pulsing with the energy of the author's previous novel Invisible, this title is as mythic as it is contemporary, as in love with baseball as it is with literature. It is above all, a story about love and forgiveness - not only among men and women, but also between fathers and sons. Num Pages: 320 pages. BIC Classification: FC. Category: (G) General (US: Trade). Hardcover. Large 8vo. ..An imprint of George Macy Companies, Ltd., Heritage Press was founded in 1935. The Press printed more affordable classic volumes that were previously published by Macy’s Limited Editions Club and covered a broad range of topics primarily within the Western canon. In addition to Macy, directors of the Heritage Press included Cedric Crowell, General Manager of the Doubleday Bookshops; Frank L. Magel, head of Putnam Bookstores in New York; and A. Koch, head of Brentano Stores in New York. Though many of Macy’s other imprints, including The Heritage Club, The Heritage Illustrated Bookshelf, and The Junior Heritage Club, were sold by subscription only, Heritage Press editions were sold through bookstores. Macy combined his publishing enterprises in 1944, though each imprint maintained its specific target audience. The archives of the George Macy Companies, including both the Limited Editions Club and The Heritage Press, were purchased by the Ransom Center in 1970.

Paperback. David & Charles, 1977, 1st edn. with dust cover in near-mint condition; oatmeal cloth in mint condition; 64pp on Woman the tyrant, Woman on her back, Woman the nuisance, Woman the wife, Woman the opponent; This volume — like the 'persons' discussed in it — is not to be taken too seriously: it is merely something amusing and satisfying to be dipped into from time to time. Armed with contraceptive pills and the ashes of a lot of expensive underwear, the weaker sex have got uppity and demanded to be taken seriously. Of course they have every reason to feel downtrodden, as students of women's lib will be aware. They were forced unwillingly into the role of having to bear children. They were compelled to wear inconvenient mammary developmentson their chests. They were forcibly provided with an extra layer of subcutaneous fat. They were robbed of their right to facial hair, and saddled with troublesome and often painful menstrual problems. Male jealousy dictated that they must hide their sexual organs, neatly tucked away. And of course they were all forcibly castrated, giving them high strident voices to constitute a permanent and justified complaint against them. The great writers and thinkers down the ages — unless their minds were numbed with love or incurable romanticism — have described every aspect of the female of the species in glowingly derogatory terms, showing con¬clusively that beneath every great man there is a woman. More recently, male chauvinists have kept a low profile while subtly handing out more and more rope to the radical feminists. But the time has come for the hilariously funny statements and priceless logic of the feminists to be exposed for what they are — meaningless tripe. 7x5¼".
