Synge’s The Aran Islands (1907), Liam Ó Flaithearta’s Dúil (1953) and Máirtín Ó Direáin’s Dánta: 1939-1979 (1980). It draws on hypotheses from postcolonial, utopian and island studies, and focuses in particular on the power of language and the significance of the dialectic of place and space.
