Paperback. David & Charles, 1977, 1st edn. with dust cover in near-mint condition; oatmeal cloth in mint condition; 64pp on Woman the tyrant, Woman on her back, Woman the nuisance, Woman the wife, Woman the opponent; This volume — like the 'persons' discussed in it — is not to be taken too seriously: it is merely something amusing and satisfying to be dipped into from time to time. Armed with contraceptive pills and the ashes of a lot of expensive underwear, the weaker sex have got uppity and demanded to be taken seriously. Of course they have every reason to feel downtrodden, as students of women's lib will be aware. They were forced unwillingly into the role of having to bear children. They were compelled to wear inconvenient mammary developmentson their chests. They were forcibly provided with an extra layer of subcutaneous fat. They were robbed of their right to facial hair, and saddled with troublesome and often painful menstrual problems. Male jealousy dictated that they must hide their sexual organs, neatly tucked away. And of course they were all forcibly castrated, giving them high strident voices to constitute a permanent and justified complaint against them. The great writers and thinkers down the ages — unless their minds were numbed with love or incurable romanticism — have described every aspect of the female of the species in glowingly derogatory terms, showing con¬clusively that beneath every great man there is a woman. More recently, male chauvinists have kept a low profile while subtly handing out more and more rope to the radical feminists. But the time has come for the hilariously funny statements and priceless logic of the feminists to be exposed for what they are — meaningless tripe. 7x5¼".
