Rumsey says, ‘Parish is the place where we belong, it is local, and God is only ever encountered locally, not because He (sic) is local, but because we are.’ The book finishes with three challenges: the viability of the parish system; finding a contemporary response to the mission challenges; and the necessity of reframing our contribution to the common good. Reading it is worth the challenge.
