Saadiah Gaon (882-942) received his early education in Egypt and published his Sefer Ha'egron on Hebrew grammar and style at the age of 29. At the age of 46, Rabbi Saadiah was appointed to the high office of Gaon of the Great Torah Academy of Sura, Babylonia. Some of his great achievements include the writing of more than twenty-four works, and a number of compositions of liturgical poetry.
