Sholom Kalib is author of The Musical Tradition of the Eastern European Synagogue: Volume I: History and Definition, published by Syracuse University Press which won the 2003 Tuttleman Foundation Book Award of Gratz College. He is professor emeritus of Eastern Michigan University and a practicing cantor for over fifty years.
