In Identity, Place, and Subversion in Contemporary Mizrahi Cinema in Israel, Yaron Shemer articulates the modalities through which Mizrahi (Oriental-Jewish or Arab-Jewish) films employ narratives, characters, and space to glean ethnic identities and, often, to redraw ethnic boundaries.
