About Paulo Gaviao Gonzaga
Paulo Gaviao Gonzaga was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1935. In his professional career in banking and insurance he was chief executive of one of the largest and oldest established finance groups, and a member of the Brazilian National Insurance Council as well as director of Brazilian Banking and Insurance Associations. In 1975 he established Interagro Farms in Itapira, Brazil, a famous Lusitano horse-breeding operation which is now the world's largest running about 400 mares and selling horses to an international market. He was for many years the President of the Brazilian Association of Lusitano Horse Breeders. Paulo Gonzaga has contributed several articles on banking, insurance and horse breeding to Brazilian and American publications, and has written books on insurance and the Lusitano horse. He is married to Maria Esther and has a son Roberto and a daughter Cecilia who are active in Interagro's management. He regularly drives his Lusitano horses around the farm.
