Hardback. Published 1684. 'Translated into English according to His Majesty's Command, by Mr Dryden.' Full contemporary calf, raised bands, red title-label. Lightly rubbed but a very good copy. Engraved frontspiece. Inner margin of title marked but not touching the text. According to Lowndes, this translation was made, not as Johnson later stated with the hopes of promoting popery but to strengthen the hands of government and to discredit the party who had acted with Lord Shaftesbury.
