About Chandrasekhara, Bina; Chandrasekhara, Vinay; Chandrasekhara, Sheila
Bina Chandrasekhara, M.B.A., has dedicated most of her professional life volunteering in school and community activities such as Maryland Food Bank, where she served as chairperson and the Wicomico County Medical Alliance, where she served as president. For eight consecutive years she has been committed to her children's high school experience, dealing first-hand with the daunting, yet gratifying challenges of college admissions, in which time she has gained an enormous wealth of knowledge about the intricacies of the admissions process. Vinay Chandrasekhara is a medical student at the University of Virginia, where he serves as the vice-president of his class and is a member of the basic science curriculum committee. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the freshman heavyweight crew team and a volunteer at a local public elementary school; he coordinated student volunteers for the Boston Marathon and organized campus-wide service events to help the homeless. Sheila Chandrasekhara is majoring in government at Harvard College where she is an active member of the Mock Trial team and is involved in the community service program City Step, which is a program that teaches children self-expression and self-confidence through dance. She is a recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award and has founded the Youth Foundation Fund in her hometown of Salisbury, Maryland, the mission of which is to help children by creating awareness of giving and by establishing and supporting organizations that promote youth betterment.
Reviews for Roadmap for College Admissions
This is a comprehensive guide that leaves nothing out. Both students and their parents will find information that is immediately helpful and also reassuring: look no further for everything you ever wanted to know about getting into the college of your choice.
Karen Rayne, Salisbury University As a reader, I know that this book will assist many students who are confused about the admissions process. From personal experience, I did not follow many of these steps, and if I had, perhaps I would have had more educational options. Our tendency is to ignore what is overwhelming, but the strategy behind this book's purpose will not allow readers to do that, giving them an advantage that past students may not have had.
Elizabeth Mulford, visiting instructor of English, Salisbury University A valuable, detailed step-by-step guide for students applying to colleges.
The Daily Times, (Delmarva)
Roadmap for College Admissions deftly charts the ambiguous, confusing topography that characterizes the college application landscape. Bina Chandresekhara’s book takes the reader on a How-To expressway toward solving practical problems associated with the college admissions process. Among its many interesting and useable features, this book provides a carefully constructed timeline, specific suggestions for building one’s academic and extracurricular profile, and an array of nicely constructed sample essays. Roadmap for College Admissions is a most valuable resource for all college-bound high school students and their parents.
John Wenke, professor of English at Salisbury University
