Educational futuristics (also known as futurology or long-range forecasting) promotes the use of a distinctive set of methods, such as extrapolations, scenarios, and trend analysis, within the framework of an optimistic philosophical approach: the future is largely ours to make. In this follow-up to the author's 2008 book, Anticipate the School You Want: Futurizing K-12 Education, educators, professional futurists, and even a high school student explore the relevance of educational futuristics. They describe mechanisms for implementing educational futuristics, and suggest ways of promoting the adoption and delivery of educational futuristics at the classroom, building, and federal level. This book describes programmatic ideas that go beyond those mentioned in the 2008 book, related to distance learning and videoconferencing, using futuristic scenario-writing exercises with students, and the greening of education.
