She has published widely on American and British literature, film, visual culture, and critical theory. Her most recent book is A Violent Embrace: Art and Aesthetics after Representation (UPNE, 2014). hoogland is also the editor of Criticism: A Quarterly for Literature and the Arts and and the Senior Editor in Chief of a 10 volume handbook series on Gender forthcoming with MacMillan. Maithree Wickramasinghe is Professor at the Department of English and the Founding Director of the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. She is Visiting Professor at the University of Sussex, UK. Her research interests include gender mainstreaming, sexual and gender-based violence, women and development as well as feminist research methodology.
