The Portafolio de actividades follows the organization of the textbook and provides additional review and practice of vocabulary and grammatical structures. In addition, each chapter of the Portafolio de actividades begins with Repaso y anticipación which recycles previously studied vocabulary and grammar items in preparation for the current chapter’s work. The final section, Portafolil cultural, allows students to expand upon the material presented in the corresponding textbook chapter. Some tasks stress observation, analysis, and comparison of texts and realia; others focus on developing knowledge of content through web-based or library research; and still others provide students with free-writing tasks. Instructors may assign any number of these activities, which students may turn in with their workbook or assemble into a portfolio to be collected and assessed at the end of the term. Volume 1 of this combination workbook/laboratory manual contains Capítulos 1-8. Volume 2 contains Capítulos 8-15.

About Ramos, Alicia; Davis, Robert L.
Alicia Ramos is Associate Professor of Spanish and Coordinator of the basic language program in French, Italian, and Spanish at Hunter College (CUNY) in New York. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, has served on the faculties of Barnard College and Indiana University of Pennsylvania and as Assistant Director of the Spanish School at Middlebury College. Dr. Ramos’ interests include methodology and materials development for courses from the elementary through advanced levels, including courses for Spanish speakers. Dr. Ramos has published in the field of Hispanic literature and has co-authored intermediate and advanced level textbooks including Cofre literario (2003, McGraw-Hill), a literary reader for the intermediate and advanced levels. Robert L. Davis is Associate Professor and the Director of the Spanish Language Program at the University of Oregon and Assistant Director of the Spanish Summer Language School at Middlebury College. He teaches courses in Spanish language, historical linguistics, and teaching methodology. His interests include language pedagogy and materials development, in particular the development of language skills within content-based instruction. He has written an advanced oral skills textbook and articles on language pedagogy, materials development, and language program direction.
