Liess realised design was her true passion so she left her job in public relations, sold her home and launched her company from her parents' basement. Liess proves an ability to mix natural elements composed of stone and wood with decidedly modern and vintage items (some of which can be rather eccentric). Figuring into many of the interiors we see in the book are some of Liess's textile patterns, the sources for which often originate with wildflowers and other foliage. Liess is as methodical in her design work as she is in the organization of the book.
