The communities of Padfield and Hadfield lie in that windswept corner of north Derbyshire close to Glossop and, like their larger sister town, they grew in the nineteenth century as the textile industry brought mills and employment to the area.
The majority of over 200 photographs in this collection are the work of Harry Buxton, a freelance news photographer from Hadfield, who took them between the late 1930s and the 1960s.
