Reviews for Quilt Talk: Paper-Pieced Alphabet with Symbols & Numbers; 12 Chatty Projects
March 2015 Sam Hunter has written a book about using the alphabet to make text-based quilts and gives you 12 projects to try out the technique for yourselves. One alphabet is used for this book and resized for the different projects. Paper Piecing is the method used for putting together the letters and the description of the basic technique is well-explained and illustrated. A consideration of how to work upper and lower case letters is also included, and this is very helpful. The projects are fun and modern and are divided into different categories – celebration, communication inspiration and decoration. You can see with these (as featured on the cover) that a lot of fun can be had with putting the lettering together and adapting them to suit your purpose. The basic instructions on how to go about lettering in quilts is very clear and easily taken outside the book for your own projects.
