He is the author of fourteen books local history books. In June 2009 and May 2014, Kieran was elected as a local government councillor (Independent) to Cork City Council. He received an honours degree in History and Archaeology from University College Cork in 2001 and was awarded a Masters in European Historical Archaeology from the University of Sheffield in 2002. Since then, he has worked in Cork Public Museum, rising to the position of Assistant Curator.
