Reviews for Veterinary Cytology: Dog, Cat, Horse and Cow: Self-Assessment Color Review, Second Edition
This question-answer, flash card type approach is the major advantage of the self-assessment book. It allows the reader to invest as little or much time available, with the benefit of learning something new each time. Cases are presented in an unstructured way so that the reader can evaluate one or more cases and need not read an entire chapter or series of cases to learn what the authors had to offer. The small size of the book (14.5 by 21 cm; 219 pages) allows the user to have it in a pocket or purse and read it on a bus or as other time periods become available. The authors are competent and experienced cytologists and clinical pathologists, and their descriptions and interpretations are of value to those wanting to improve their cytologic diagnostic skills. -Harold Tvedten DVM, PhD, University Animal Hospital, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden Veterinary Cytology offers a wide array of cytology cases to study. Although not exhaustive, it does offer a represntative series of diagnostic scenariosfor various species.Updated from the first edition 10 years previous, the secnd edition continues to focus on teaching cytology with a practical and clinical approach. Clinical cases lend a more real life interpretation and discussion of the cytology slides provided.... The interpretative guidance offered is excellent and thorough, making Veterinary Cytology worth purchasing. - Janeen Junaid, DVM, MVSc, Locum/Associate Small Animal Veterinarian, Ontario. Reviewed in the Canadian Veterinary Journal 59, July 2018 The format has changed from the previous edition with the answers now being found at the back of the book. This has allowed expansion of the answers, explanations and discussion of each case. The editors' comments are welcome, adding information and experience to the interpretations. The literature references are up to date and exactly on point. Recommended. - Kathleen Tennant, Clinical lead, diagnostic laboratories, Langford Vets
