Sylvia Pankhurst was a tireless activist for a variety of radical causes, including women's suffrage, labour movements and international solidarity campaigns. Mary Davis is Professor of Labour History at London Metropolitan University. She has written widely on labour and women's history, most recently Sylvia Pankhurst (Pluto, 1999) and Comrade or Brother? (Pluto, 2009).
