Reviews for Playful Little Paper-Pieced Projects: 37 Graphic Designs & Tips from Top Modern Quilters
Apr 14 This book is a delight, breathing new and modern life into foundation-pieced, or 'paper-pieced' projects. The crucial points in modern foundation piecing, according to Tacha, are keeping track of the many tiny pieces that make up the blocks, keeping the points pointy and selecting the correct fabrics to give the blocks a modern feel. She has gone to great lengths to provide an in-depth introductory chapter on foundation-piecing techniques, including basic and freezer paper methods. All the foundation templates are included on a CD to the rear of the book. The projects are split into two sections: the first, called Calendar quilt, features twelve projects that fit in with the months of the year and the second section is called Small projects for around the house. There are some beauties in this title, including the glorious January snowflake table runner, Halloween Boo! banner, November snow-boarding bunny, the Liberty Street pot holder and the Artist's portfolio. But for me, the piece de resistance is the Roll-up backgammon board.
