The labour markets and European societies as a whole are subject to constant change. One way to face these challenges is the application of entrepreneurial skills like self-motivation, time management etc. The authors give examples of entrepreneurship in the fields of digitalization, social innovation, and eco-innovation and present special groups of entrepreneurs (e.g. migrants) and their entrepreneurial spirit. Thus, the readers get insight in how an innovative and competitive Europe can look like.Europe is facing challenges such as a high number of (young) unemployed people, the grey generation, skills shortage, the increase of migration and refugees' movements, development of new technologies etc. The European labour markets are constantly under change and need to be adapted to the external requirements. To hold on to this changes skills, competences, and qualifications that are regarded by companies as 'adequate' also underlie a transformation. To handle these changes and to react faster, individuals are asked to go along in terms of the lifelong learning and actively overtake responsibility for their career paths by bridging life spans which are characterised by unemployment or reorientation. 'Entrepreneurial skills', which aim at e.g. self-motivation, time management, idea development and implementation, overtaking responsibility, stepping into own-employment, will help contribute to employability by supporting new business models and preventing skills gaps and mismatches. Entrepreneurial skills can support the individual life and career paths and can be understood as a possibility to overcome labour market and educational disequilibria within Europe.
