The late Cornelius Castoriadis was Director of Studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and a practicing psychoanalyst. Among his many books in English is World in Fragments: Writings on Politics, Society, Psychoanalysis, and the Imagination (Stanford, 1997).
