A fluent speaker of Blackfoot from the Kainai reserve in Southern Alberta, Lena Russell's Blackfoot name is Ikkináinihki 'Gentle Singer.' The author of thirteen resource books, she helped develop the Blackfoot language curriculum and taught it for over 50 years.
