Reviews for Toward a Common European Union Energy Policy
"This book onEU energy policy speaking both to thescholarly community and the interested public is more than squaring the circle: Toward a Common European Union Energy Policy succeeds at framing this complex issue while staying empathetic with the involved actors. The authors clearly describe a (if not the) major policy challenge of the 21st century and remind us of the ... Read morelimited instruments we have at our disposal to address it." - Friedemann Mueller, Energy Analyst, Berlin "This volume is a major achievement in advancing our understanding of a complex, controversial, and extremely important policy problem, and not just for the EU but for the world at large. The editors have assembled a very impressive team of researchers with scholarly and practical experience in the energy sector, and their contributions cover a full range of policy issues related to the pursuit of a common EU energy policy. The volume is especially impressive in terms of linking market factors with political dynamics, and in terms of synthesizing domestic concerns with international trends at the European level and beyond. It should stand as a major reference work on the topic for scholars, policymakers, policy advocates, energy firms, and others with an interest in this increasingly critical issue in world politics in the 21st century." - Michael E. Smith, Professor, Department of Politics & International Relations, University of Aberdeen Show Less
