What makes the collection especially valuable is the inclusion of many previously untranslated documents. Pugliese's approach brings together the fascists and their opponents in an ongoing critical dialogue. The reader will take from this anthology both an overview of Italian fascism as an historical phenomenon and a sense of how the issues were viewed by those who lived through the Fascist dictatorship.
