[Report from the Select Committee on the City of Dublin Election Petition: and also, the Minutes of Evidence Taken before them.] Mr. Robert Gordon, from the Select Committee appointed to try and determine the merits of the Petition of James Scarlett, David McCleery, and others, severally complaining of an undue election and return for the City of Dublin, informed The House, that the said Committee have determined: -That Robert Harty, Esquire, The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Dublin, and Louis Perrin, Esquire, are not duly elected Citizens to serve in the present Parliament for the City of Dublin. –That the last Election of Citizens to serve in Parliament for the said City of Dublin is a void election. –That the said Petition did not appear to the said Committee to be frivolous or vexatious. –That the Opposition to the said Petition did not appear to the said committee to be frivolous or vexatious. Mr. Robert Gordon also reported to The House, that Select Committee had come to the following Resolutions, which they had him to report to The House; -That Robert Harty and Louis Perrin, Esquires, were, by their agents, guilty of bribery at the last election for the said City. –That it appears to this committee, that certain individuals holding official situations in Ireland, or considered to be connected with the Irish Government, did, at the last election for the City of Dublin, in contravention of the Resolutions of The House of Commons, use undue influence in favour of, and with a view to aid and assist in, the election and return of the sitting members of the City of Dublin. –That the Chairman be requested to move, that this report, with the Evidence taken before the said Committee, be printed. 88pp. Disbound, housed in a protective file
