She has had over thirty books published in Spain, most of them novels for young adults with a fantasy theme, and her work has been translated into many languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Korean. In 2011, Gallego received the Cervantes Chico Award recognizing her entire works and in 2012 her novel Donde los árboles cantan won the National Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature.
