About Christina Ludlam
Christina's career as a professional cake decorator began as a hobby in 1988, and in January 2009 she began teaching at West Nottinghamshire College. Her classes became increasingly popular and in 2012 she launched her own cake decorating school: Cakey Bakey Art Sugarcraft School. In 2013 Christina became involved with one of ... She later demonstrated at the 38th ICES (International Cake Exploration Societe) Convention, Kentucky, USA, and since then Christina has regularly demonstrated a wide range of sugarcraft products on live TV shows for both the UK and USA. I've quite a few sugarcraft/cake books, the things which makes yours stand are; A) I can read it without ... Read morehaving to search for my reading specs. B) some fabulous new ideas and I love the colour combinations. C) I love the layout, the fact we see the finished product then you label each individual item with the brand of tool/ mould/ cutter you've used....genius. D) photographs are superb, good close ups and step by step in much more detail than many books. It's like having a You tube tutorial but you don't have to pause or rewind!! Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced cake decorator each cake is achievable. Well done Christina Ludlam, can't wait for issue two!!xx

This book has a good wide range of projects in it, from tiered cakes to cupcakes, and I'm really looking forward to making the mannequin (vintage couture) cake. The instructions are clear to follow, with both clear written instructions and step by step pictures. There's even a really useful section at the start on how to use all the moulds and tools used within the book. The only negatives is that all the projects use specific moulds and it would be real useful to hae a directory of suppliers for the specific brands that have been used.

Love this book, really enjoyed the projects packed with interesting practical tips & hints to ensure a professional finish to my cakes. From cupcakes to tiered cakes, this book is jam packed with ideas, & gives details of tools, tin sizes & fondant required for a myriad of cakes. I especially liked the layout, from names of the tools to handy hints of what to do if things are not behaving as I expect !! Christina has thought about the reader, from the novice baker to experienced artists, so that everyone can learn to make exquisite creations & find inspiration for creating my own designs using what I learned from this book. Well laid out, beautiful clear instructions & explained everything very well. I have several projects coming up so will definitely use some of the ideas from this book, especially the die cuts on rice paper - genius !!

As a little extra, there are a few cake recipes, one of which is adapted for 4 to 12 cake tin sizes. Also there are chocolate ganache recipes which can act as an alternate base below covering a cake in fondant. If you are a beginner to caking and fondant then purchase this book. It's a brilliant tool to have!

As an avid cake decorator and 'collector ' of books on the subject I can happily say this is one of the best. Why? Because it is so clearly layed out, great photography and most importantly very clear instructions. Anyone new to cake decorations will find the book very easy to use and more experienced decorators will find fabulous ideas to add to their repertoire. Moulds and lace mats, which are great addition to our cake decorating armoury , are covered in this book which makes it bang up to date.

There are some amazing cakes in this book, very easy to follow and presented nicely with lots of pictures showing the detail. I was very much looking forward to trying some of these out but I admit to being a little disappointed when this book arrived that a lot of it is just using bought molds, which yes makes it easy, however feels a little like cheating! I would have liked to see a few more tutorials on crafting by hand using tools. Other than that, a brilliant book and very inspirational. My little girls next birthday cake will be from this book.
